It's really hard coming back sometimes after taking a day off... stomach of course is messed up and doesn't feel well at all... so that always brings me down mentally and physically...

Back at it again...

Got up bright and early this morning... met Daniel at the 'box' to WOD... I was feeling pretty good! It was nice to chat with him... We hadn't chatted or worked out together in a while... He was nursing his knee, so he took an easy...

We did:

5 Rounds
400m Row
10 Squat Cleans to thrusters (95#/65#)

I should have gone heavier, maybe 75#... will increase weight next time for sure!

Found a new workout style that I'm going to attempt... sealfit.com... gonna give it a try... seems like it will fit my body type... we'll see! Trick is whether I can stick to my diet... that seems to be the ultimate challenge for me... I always fall off which makes me fall short of performance not only because a better diet will help me perform better but because the stuff that I'm eating causes my stomach to hurt something fierce!!! I really want to do the Thorne Cleanse and hopefully can start that once I get a little extra cash, cause it's pricey... but it's totally worth it cause it's the elimination diet... then maybe I could find out what's messing with my stomach once and for all...

What a great morning for a run...;-)

Woke up feeling great this morning... slept very well ;-) Went and met Megan for a run... there was a nice breeze this morning... we just ran a 5k, not for time, just for a run... we are each others therapist ;-) It's a good trade off... but I think I got a sweet deal... she shared her organicly grown tomatoes, corn and jalapenos with me... thanks Megan!!! I can't wait to eat them!

Not sure what was going on... I slept well, at least I thought I did?! Anyway, something was just off, but you know what? the positive side is that I have school today, so I get to learn something knew ;-) And that's how I'll leave it!~

I started off pretty slow on this one... I did 5x3 deadlifts yesterday at 185#, so my back was already a little tired! Half way through started picking it up a bit and then those last deadlifts killed me... but hey, it's all over now!

All or nothing... it's all on you... and that's all there is to it!


You know... I'm really disappointed in myself... I haven't been taking theis challenge seriously enough... If I were, I would be more strict with my diet, my WoD's and my rest time... It's evident in everything that I'm not... the way I feel, the way I look... it's all tied together and I'm totally blowing all of it!!! I'm tired of telling myself one thing and then doing the total opposite... I'm setting myself up for failure everytime... Today, will be a new starting day for me... it has to be...


I ran 3.5 miles this morning with Megan... It was so good! I needed that desperately!

Came into the box this afternoon wanting to workout but couldn't stop talking to people... ;-) So, I didn't get started on my workout until late...

Feel good Tuesday!!!

Wow... slept through my alarm again to go running this morning. I hope this isn't becoming a habit...Went to the 'Box' to do a WoD...

It was 'Cindy'

Did 10 rounds

I did them Rx though... kipping pull ups & chest to ground push ups... yeah baby!!! Finally got to get my name on the board for doing everything prescribed! I only did 10 rounds but now I have something to build from prescribed... I probably could have done more but tore my hand the other day doing pull ups and my tape was bugging!!! Good feeling overall though ;-) Now to go eat!

B: 2 eggs w/ onion, garlic and tomato cooked in. Topped with a whole avocado and hatch green chili salsa. 1 peach and a few strawberries and 3 slices canadian bacon.

L: Gristmill, but I did have a grilled chicken salad with oil and vinegar dressing. But I did partake in chips and salsa. SO GOOD! I think by far the best chips and salsa I've ever had! A glass of wine too... ok, so I screwed up...

Slept in... was gonna workout with Daniel after his class, but when I got there he had already worked out with the class ;-) That was cool... I did:

Came back to do some Jiu Jitsu with Conor... while I was waiting on him to finish a workout I decided to do the CrossFit Football workout...

Sunday, lazy Sunday...

Thought I would have been more rested this morning... seemed like I slept well enough... my stomach of course was bothering me, not digging that much... Came to the 'Box' even though I really didn't feel like working out... wanted to work on my Jiu Jitsu with Conor... that always make me happy ;-) Sure enough, got here and started to work on it and I felt better instantly... I think has partly to do with the fact that I'm training with him but also learning all of the basic Jiu Jitsu moves that I haven't ever mastered and am now starting to... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!! After that, I decided I would try a little CrossFit workout... probably should've because I ended up ripping my hand from pull ups...

I tried to do:

5 rounds

12 kipping pull ups
18 GHD Sit ups
24 Walking Lunges 25# bar

ended up with

5 rounds

3 rds were kipping pull ups, then ripped my hand and switched to jumping pull ups my last 2 rounds
3 rounds of GHD, but ended up on the floor doing regular because it was hurting my hand
1 round of walking lunges with 25# bar, ended with 4 rounds without bar

Time 15:23 EVERYTHING SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!

Tired and sore...

I didn't sleep well at all last night... probably because I fell asleep on the floor... so I tossed and turned most of the night... got up, came to 'Box' to meet Daniel for a WoD...

Lacking form... ; - (

Gotta get my form... Cleans and I are kind of enemies right now... I've had to lower weight to get the form down. Which is what I'm supposed to do but I'm frustrated that my form sucks... I've gotta get my hips back and under the damn bar! That's all there is to it! I'm determined! I will find it and I will make it mine! ; - )

I just have to keep reiterated that in my head to my stomach... I know I sound crazy right now! Oh well ; )

What a beautiful Tuesday... ;-)

Didn't get to run this morning unfortunately... oh well, will start back on Thursday... Came to the 'Box' for an elements appointment with Stephanie and Austin. They are a really nice couple and are very serious about CrossFit! I'm very proud of them... they've come along way within 3 weeks... They are doing an awesome job! I decided on a workout after a long deliberation...

Met Daniel at the 'Box' at what was supposed to be 5:15... got there at 5:22. Warmed up, then decided what workout to do based on the 4 we had to choose from...

Then for 5 minutes...

30 secs hard averaged 585 meters

All together it was a decent workout... quick! My thrusters suck!!! I actually did kipping burpee pull ups... so nice to actually have my kipping down!!! It has made me happy... it's a constant work in progress! It's all legs... I have to keep telling myself that and I have to practice them everyday...

Got to the 'Box' early this morning to do a body comp... waited for Daniel... chatted with Heath a bit... then Daniel came in bout 8:30. We went back and forth about what workout we were going to do... finally decided and it was pretty brutal...

The calm after the storm... ; )

Met up with Megan, my running partner and ran a 5k... went to the 'Box' and decided to do a pretty hard workout since tomorrow is going to be my day off...

Then rowed for 10 mins... rowed 2040meters...not too bad. My back started to cramp up, that's when I knew it was time for a rest day... Looking forward to it! It's nice looking forward to those, whereas I used to not cause I thought I needed to workout everyday... now, I know better, finally!!! ; )

Finals, stressful finals.... ; (

I didn't run or workout this morning because I had to be at my first final at 8am... It went pretty well I think... It felt okay ; ) The anxiety really set in about an hour before my statistics final... I meditated like 4 times before the final... I was almost hyperventilating, I needed to calm down... So, I did, thanks to Conor... he saved my day!!! ; ) Went in, took the final, just as I thought it totally blew, but now it's over... so, we'll see... Went to the 'Box' and did an awesome workout:

15 Chest to ground push ups
20 KB Swings 1 pood (20kg)

That was the first time I had used a 20kg kettlebell... it was good! Can't go back now... ; )

Then, I sat on a bench and did Tabata shoulder press with a 12# medball... 20secs on, 10 sec rest, 8 rounds... it's amazing how such a small amount of weight can really tire you out and get heavy... yikes!~



Then, I went and did yoga... it was so nice! I wasn't really into it, but glad that I went... we worked on knees... Jonci is an awesome instructor! I really enjoy her class and I wish we had more... ; )

The challenge has begun...

Ate horribly this weekend... Thought I'd get it all out of my system since I knew I would be starting this challenge today... I even ate horribly today even though it was so good... it was a 'Reuben' but authentic in Fredricksburg at the Brewery... even had a glass of wine and drank some of Conor's beer which I shouldn't have cause it didn't agree with my stomach... oh well, so ok, here it goes, I did the '300' Spartan challenge workout:

I did up to 35 clean & press, so I had 15 more to go plus all pull ups... so, next time the goal is to finish within the 20 mins and beat it!!!

I've missed heavy lifting... it was a good day to start again!!!

Met Daniel at the 'Box' at 5:30 and started back with our Starting Strength training... It felt really good to be back at it... I've missed it so much! I love lifting heavy, I always have even when I was going to the gym... Felt pretty strong even though we haven't done it in a while and I was sick this past week...

I did:

Back Squat: 4 warm up sets then, 3 work sets of 165#
Shoulder Press: 4 warm up sets then, 3 work sets of 65#
Power Cleans: 4 warm up sets then, 5 work sets of 85#

No fun being sick...

I haven't blogged in some time... that is all about to change!

I woke up in the middle the night Thursday with a case of food poisoning... it was not pleasant at all... I was up pretty much all night with it. I could barely move my head off the pillow the whole next day with major stomach cramps and a horrible headache!!! I couldn't really eat anything. Conor brought me soup, crackers and ginger ale, so sweet of him! I couldn't really eat a whole lot of it cause my stomach started to cramp again. I basically slept all day... I ate jello for dinner and drank some gatorade... Woke up this morning with cramps still, head wasn't hurting as bad but I did manage to drink a soy protein shake which is sitting okay so far... Just gonna take an easy today and hope that the cramping goes away... I haven't worked out in 2 days which I think is a record for me, haha... I think my body needs the rest even though is was induced by a sickness... If all goes well, I'll be back at it tomorrow... hopefully!

Woke up waaaaay late... alarm didn't go off... didn't get up till 7:30am, which never happens to me during the week... totally threw my morning off! Went in to teach my ladies class, which was a good class... they were working hard! Didn't really get a whole lot accomplished today unfortunately... Going to go workout right now, hopefully I'll feel better after that ; )

Lazy, rainy, cold Thursday...

It was pouring rain this morning, so didn't run ; ( I will make up for it tomorrow! I haven't worked out yet today... I'm going to redo my workout from the Fitness Challenge on Saturday at Crossfit Central... Alej is going to time me, so we shall see...

So... I did it and the outcome is 7:07... the workout was:

So, my previous time was 5:12 on Saturday but that was with 15 Jumping Pull Ups... I feel better that I got to see what I would have actually scored +/-... ; )

I was so tired!!! I could tell that I hadn't drank enough water or had eaten right today... It just goes to show that all of it is connected in your performance!

So then I worked out again with the group:

What a lovely Tuesday... ; )

I was up and at'em bright and early this morning.... ok, well maybe not so bright because it was still dark ; )... but never the less I was up early and went for a 4 mile run with my awesome running buddy Megan ; ) It was a pretty good run. I felt kind of tired but overall it was good. Then I went to the box for the fitness challenge class. The workout was:

Awww... it's the Monday after the challenge...

Well, I did it... the CrossFit Central Fittest Games Challenge on Saturday. There were 2 workouts:
Workout #1
4 rounds
10 115# Deadlift
10 Push Ups
15 Kipping Pull Ups ( I scaled and did jumping pull ups)
Workout #2
5 rounds
7 75# Push Press/Push Jerks
400 m Run
I ended up having my time disqualified... When I was doing the pull ups my counters kept telling me that I should only be doing 15 jumping pull ups when I should have actually been doing 30, which I knew and was trying to do but they kept saying no, only do 15. So, I went ahead and did both workouts and then afterward when they were tallying scores, I told Jeremy Thiel what had happened and he just disqualified my time but I get to move to the championships on April 4th. I was a little upset about it. He apologized and said it was their fault. I'm lo0king forward to the next competetion and will start training with the elite weight for women and work on my kipping pull up. I will master it one of these days...
Sunday, I decided to take an easy... I didn't run, I just went to the box and worked out with Conor and then practiced a little Jiu Jitsu... ; )

The day started out great... got up and ran 4 miles. It was a great run, once again, I felt like I could have run another 2 with no problem! Went to school, had a great day at school... Went to the 'box', didn't really get to workout like I had entended... just rowed 1000m & push pressed 75# overhead a couple times to see how I would do... that is part of one of the workouts that I'll be doing Saturday at CrossFit Central... I think I'm thinking to much about this damn challenge... I just need to relax and have fun with it... It's all in good fun! I did get to go do MMA tonight... I decided not to spar at the end, I'm just not up for it yet... Oh well, in time...

I forgot to write my time down, I should be able to get it tonight if it hadn't been erased. Then went and did a level 2/3 Krav class... it was good! I partnered with Kelli, it felt good to get back to Krav... it's been a while ; )

Started the fitness challenge yesterday... 60 days... no excuses!

I started the 60 day fitness challenge yesterday... my benchmark workout went well... it was:

500m Row
40 Air Squats
30 Sit Ups
20 Push Ups
10 Pull Ups (yellow band, kipping)
Time: 5:03
I am very pleased with this time and aim to do it sub 5:00min in 30 days... I should be able to as long as I keep up with everything...
This morning for breakfast: 3 blocks
Peach, pineapple & strawberry protein shake... with 1 oz turkey w/ 3 tbl avocado... yummy!
I started off the day with an awesome 4 mile run... felt like I could have gone another 2 miles if time would have permitted. Went to the box and did the 60 challenge workout at 5:45 which was: Tabata Something Else
8 rounds of 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest of
Pull Ups
Squats
Push Ups
Sit ups
I didn't count my reps per each set, should have but I didn't, oh well...
then went to the studio and did yoga, which was so nice... After that, I sat and watched the MMA class and took some pictures of Parker and Matt training... then, once they started working on the ground work I started in and worked with Austin on some Jiu Jitsu... it was awesome! I love Jiu Jitsu and hope get back into practice with it...

Getting back to it...

I kind of fell off the wagon as far as workouts and eating goes this last week... I haven't blogged or kept up with really anything for that matter... I've let things fall through the cracks, I guess just trying to balance everything... I had done a benchmark workout on Saturday to start the 60 day fitness challenge, but I'm not happy with it... I'm going to start again today because there are some who are starting today too... so, I'm going to join them on this venture. I will do the workout, get my body fat % read and will start tonight on my workouts & my diet... I will blog my results and start from there tomorrow...

Saturday's blog... awesome day!

Went into the 'box' early to meet Daniel to do a WoD... Wasn't sure what it was yet, he said the luck of the roll... That's exactly what it was. He wrote down ten WoD names(actually there was 2-9, we could make up 1 or 10 if we rolled that)... by that time Jason showed up so he was in on the roll... He rolled a number, I rolled a number and then we fliped a coin to see which one we were going to do... Well... Grace won, 30 snatches or however you can get the weight from the ground to above your head... I did powerclean to split jerk, Daniel did powerclean to push press and Jason the beast, did snatches the whole way through... I think we all did a phenominal job... I really enjoyed that workout and would like to get better and be able to snatch 85#'s or more 30 times... Well, so then, I did the WoD, which was 21 kb snatches right arm, 21 L pull ups, 21 snatches left arm, 21 L pull ups, 3 rounds... that was insane! Daniel capped the workout to 20 minutes... Daniel and I also did a ton of ab work, which was awesome!

Love, hate...

What a way to start the day... My phone rang at 5:26am several times in a row... It was Daniel calling to tell me that he over slept... Well, turns out, I had over slept too! My alarm didn't go off... I think I set it for pm instead of am... I had to rush to get ready cause I had to be at the 'Box' by 6am to teach Group & WoD... Thank goodness Jackie and Daniel were both there to open the door... So, I'm still not feeling great today... I feel lop sided cause I can't hear out of my left ear and my head is starting to get really congested & runny, it can't decide what to do... Who knows what's going on... could be allergies, could be a cold, don't really know... I was supposed to go to the student health center at Texas State but they don't have any appointments today until 4:15 which is too late for me unfortunately... oh well, the suffering continues... I can hang, I'm a big girl! Anyway, did a crazy workout even though I'm not feeling well...

I worked out with my ladies only class and was instructing as I was working out... So, I didn't get to go all out with my workout... It's cool, I'll do it again and do better... ; )

1 Builder Bar (even though I shouldn't eat these, it was quick and easy)

Awesome day! Awesome workout... ; )

Woke up this morning feeling pretty good & energized... ran a 5K pretty fast, didn't really keep time, although I need to start... Had a great day at school & then came to work, worked out with Ryan, thanks Ryan! It was awesome, he helped me push myself through the workout...

We did the CrossFit HQ WoD, which was:

50 Ring Dips
400m Run
50 Push Ups
400m Run
50 HS Push Ups
400m Run

Time: 19:07

I threw in a couple of Bear Complex @ 65#... I love that movement!

Food intake today was pretty good...

Breakfast: Protein Shake

2/3 c Aloe Vera Juice
1 scoop protein powder
1/2 c peaches
1/2 c pineapples
1 c strawberries
1 c ice
3/4 tsp olive oil

3 slices canadian bacon
1 plum

Lunch: Salad & cup of tomato basil soup

Jason's Deli

Salad w/ olives, tomatoes, red & yellow peppers, artichokes, mushrooms, feta, 3 eggs, jalapenos, olive oil & balsamic vinegar...

It was so good! I'm sure I went over on something but I figured veggie carbs are better than fruit anyway, oh well ; )

Getting back to it...

Got pretty good sleep last night, so I feel pretty good today... got up, came & taught the group & WoD classes... then, did my workout which was pretty good... I wasn't really feeling it at first but then started a good rhythm & got in the zone!

I did:

I don't know if my time was good or not cause I don't have anything to compare it to... I'll try it again in a week or so and see how I do then... I will probably come in tonight and do some other workout...

My food so far this morning is nothing... I wasn't thinking and didn't bring anything with me... Going home now to have a protein shake, yummy!

A little sore today....

I had a big test today... so my mind was a little preoccupied & not focused on my workout or my food...

I ran a 5K this morning in the drizzle with my awesome running partner Megan ; ) We were gonna run 5 miles but cut it short cause I needed to get to school to finish up studying for my History test that I was totally stressing over!!! Turns out studying really works, haha ; ) ... got my test, looked it over & started knocking out the questions without doubt... that was the best I've felt about a test in a long time!

My CrossFit workout today was:

3 Rounds:

10 Burpee/Medball Slams
20 KB Swings (each arm)
30 Back Extensions

Time was 12:30, not good at all but like I said I wasn't really focused today... I'll try that one again next week and see if I improve.

My diet today totally blows, so I'm not gonna even talk about it... I definitely need to get my diet back on track though especially with all of these CrossFit competitions coming up...
